Solar Feed-in Tariffs Queensland October 2026: 1,349 Plans, Median 2c, Best Unconditional 25c

Queensland retailers publish 1,349 residential plans with a feed-in tariff in October 2026. The median rate is 2c; the highest unconditional rate is 25c from Ezi Power, paid only 16:00 to 20:59 every day. On a Brisbane 6.6 kW system exporting 6,577 kWh a year, each 1c is worth $66, so the median earns $132.

Where Queensland's 1,349 plans sit

Each of the 1,349 Queensland plans is counted once at its highest retailer-paid rate (fit_max_c), whether that rate is unconditional, capped or paid only in a window; government scheme rates are excluded. 132 of the 1,349 plans pay nothing for exports, 611 pay under 2c, and 51 pay 10c or more, nearly all of them time-window or battery plans. The median unconditional rate is 1c, which differs from the all-plan median of 2c because the conditional plans in Queensland skew higher.

Every retailer's best plan in Queensland, ranked

One row per retailer brand: its plan with the highest retailer-paid rate in Queensland, ranked by that rate. 14 of the 26 rows are conditional plans, labelled with the condition from the record; a window is the hours the top rate applies. Usage rates are the first general rate in the record (the peak rate on a time-of-use plan) and supply charges are the daily charge; all Queensland records are hosted for Energy Made Easy (plan IDs ending @EME) and publish them GST inclusive. Best unconditional plan per retailer in Queensland

703 of the 1,349 plans carry no condition in their record: no cap, no step, no battery, VPP, bundle or membership requirement and no negative rate. This table takes the highest unconditional rate of each of the 17 Queensland retailers that have one, breaking ties on the lowest usage rate. A time window is not treated as a condition, and 8 of the 703 unconditional Queensland plans carry one, so the hours column still matters: a rate paid 16:00 to 20:59 every day pays nothing on midday exports.

By distributor in Queensland

The medians differ by zone: the unconditional median is 6.01c in the Ergon Energy area and 1c in the Energex area, because Ergon Energy customers are on the regulated regional Queensland rate of 6.006c and only 4 retailers publish plans there, against 25 in the Energex area.

The government benchmark in Queensland

Queensland has two markets. In regional Queensland, where Ergon Energy Retail is the supplier, the Queensland Competition Authority sets the feed-in tariff: 6.006c for 2026-27 ("The solar feed-in tariff for 2026–27 is 6.006 cents per kilowatt hour, a decrease of 31% from last year.", QCA, read 27 October 2026). In south east Queensland, the Energex area, there is no regulated rate and retailers set their own. That is why the Ergon Energy rows below sit at 6.01c unconditional while the Energex median is 2c.

What the rate is worth on a Brisbane 6.6 kW system

A 6.6 kW system in Brisbane makes about 10,118 kWh a year (1,533 kWh per kW from the Clean Energy Council yield table for Brisbane, multiplied by 6.6). At 35 per cent self-consumption, the assumption behind every saving figure on this site, 6,577 kWh leaves a Brisbane roof for the grid, so each 1c of Queensland feed-in tariff is worth about $66 a year.

Annual feed-in income on 6,577 kWh of exports from a Brisbane 6.6 kW system, October 2026
RateArithmeticA year
Median (2c)6,577 kWh x 2c$132
Best unconditional (25c, Ezi Power, window only)6,577 kWh x 25c$1,644 only if every exported kWh fell in the window
Best unconditional paid at all hours (6.006c, Ergon Energy)6,577 kWh x 6.006c$395

The 25c figure is an upper bound: Ezi Power pays it only 16:00 to 20:59 every day, and a fixed rooftop array sends most of its export out before that window opens. The usage rate on the same plan decides whether the extra $1,512 between the Queensland median and the best rate survives: the hub page works through two plans in one zone, and the payback calculator takes your own rates. For the cost side, see solar panel costs and is solar worth it in Queensland.

Read the whole plan, not the headline rate

The feed-in figure in a retailer's advertising is usually the top of a structure, and the 1,349 Queensland records read 27 October 2026 show four kinds of it.

  • Caps. 139 Queensland plans pay their top rate only on the first few kWh exported each day (the CDR field up_to_kwh_per_day), then drop to a lower step. The most common cap is 8 kWh a day (106 plans), used by 1st Energy, AGL, Alinta Energy and ENGIE. Origin and AGL, which publish 36 of the 139 capped Queensland plans, describe the cap as a daily limit averaged across the billing period. A Brisbane 6.6 kW system exporting 6,577 kWh a year averages 18.0 kWh a day, so an 8 kWh cap bites on most spring and summer days.
  • Time windows. 34 Queensland plans pay their top rate only in stated hours, most often late afternoon and evening, and a lower rate or 0c at other times. In Queensland the window column above carries hours for 5 of the 26 ranked retailers; the exports that fall outside those hours earn the other rate.
  • Negative rates. No Queensland plan in the data publishes a negative rate; in South Australia iO Energy does, which is why that state's page carries a warning.
  • Wholesale estimates. 12 plans, from Amber Electric and Ezi Power, publish an estimated wholesale export price rather than a fixed rate; the record says the price is not fixed and the estimate assumes a stated household. They are labelled conditional.
  • Export credits booked as incentives. 26 plans carry an export credit in the incentives part of the record instead of the feed-in field, for example GloBird Energy's Super Export Credit of 10c on the first 15 kWh exported between 6pm and 9pm. The feed-in figure for those 26 Queensland plans understates what they can pay; the summary file lists the incentive text.

Queensland feed-in tariff questions

What is the best solar feed-in tariff in Queensland in October 2026?

25c is the best unconditional rate, from Ezi Power on Ezi Peak, paid 16:00 to 20:59 every day. The best conditional rate in Queensland is 35c from Flow Power (Happy Hour Battery+Solar+EV: Variable Prices (estimate)), which requires: battery required; EV plan.

What is the average feed-in tariff in Queensland?

2c is the median best rate across the 1,349 residential plans in Queensland on 27 October 2026; the median among unconditional plans is 1c. 132 plans pay 0c and 51 pay 10c or more.

How much is the feed-in tariff worth on a 6.6 kW system in Brisbane?

$132 a year at the Queensland median of 2c, on 6,577 kWh of exports from a Brisbane system that makes 10,118 kWh at 35 per cent self-consumption. Each extra 1c adds about $66 in Brisbane; at 25c the income would be $1,644 if every exported kWh fell inside the plan's window, which it will not.

Is there a minimum feed-in tariff in Queensland?

6.006c is the regulated rate for Ergon Energy customers in regional Queensland for 2026-27, set by the Queensland Competition Authority. South east Queensland (Energex area) has no regulated rate; its median is 2c.

Which retailers pay the highest unconditional feed-in tariff in Queensland?
