Solar Feed-in Tariffs ACT October 2026: 546 Plans, Median 5c, Best Unconditional 10c

ACT retailers publish 546 residential plans with a feed-in tariff in October 2026. The median rate is 5c; the highest unconditional rate is 10c from 1st Energy (EL Retail Energy), paid only 16:00 to 20:59 every day. On a Canberra 6.6 kW system exporting 6,735 kWh a year, each 1c is worth $67, so the median earns $337.

Where the ACT's 546 plans sit

Each of the 546 the ACT plans is counted once at its highest retailer-paid rate (fit_max_c), whether that rate is unconditional, capped or paid only in a window; government scheme rates are excluded. 17 of the 546 plans pay nothing for exports, 17 pay under 2c, and 54 pay 10c or more, nearly all of them time-window or battery plans. The median unconditional rate is 2.7c, which differs from the all-plan median of 5c because the conditional plans in the ACT skew higher.

Every retailer's best plan in the ACT, ranked

One row per retailer brand: its plan with the highest retailer-paid rate in the ACT, ranked by that rate. 5 of the 9 rows are conditional plans, labelled with the condition from the record; a window is the hours the top rate applies. Usage rates are the first general rate in the record (the peak rate on a time-of-use plan) and supply charges are the daily charge; all the ACT records are hosted for Energy Made Easy (plan IDs ending @EME) and publish them GST inclusive. Best unconditional plan per retailer in the ACT

204 of the 546 plans carry no condition in their record: no cap, no step, no battery, VPP, bundle or membership requirement and no negative rate. This table takes the highest unconditional rate of each of the 6 the ACT retailers that have one, breaking ties on the lowest usage rate. A time window is not treated as a condition, and 6 of the 204 unconditional the ACT plans carry one, so the hours column still matters: a rate paid 16:00 to 20:59 every day pays nothing on midday exports.

By distributor in the ACT

The ACT has one distribution network, Evoenergy, so every plan in the state is priced for the same zone and there is no distributor split to read.

The government benchmark in the ACT

The ACT has no regulated feed-in tariff for new solar connections and no benchmark. The old ACT government feed-in scheme is closed; where a plan still lists it with payer type GOVERNMENT it is excluded from every rate on this page. Retailers set the rate, and 17 of the 546 ACT plans pay 0c.

What the rate is worth on a Canberra 6.6 kW system

A 6.6 kW system in Canberra makes about 10,362 kWh a year (1,570 kWh per kW from the Clean Energy Council yield table for Canberra, multiplied by 6.6). At 35 per cent self-consumption, the assumption behind every saving figure on this site, 6,735 kWh leaves a Canberra roof for the grid, so each 1c of the ACT feed-in tariff is worth about $67 a year.

Annual feed-in income on 6,735 kWh of exports from a Canberra 6.6 kW system, October 2026
RateArithmeticA year
Median (5c)6,735 kWh x 5c$337
Best unconditional (10c, 1st Energy (EL Retail Energy), window only)6,735 kWh x 10c$674 only if every exported kWh fell in the window
Best unconditional paid at all hours (5.5c, CovaU)6,735 kWh x 5.5c$370

The 10c figure is an upper bound: 1st Energy (EL Retail Energy) pays it only 16:00 to 20:59 every day, and a fixed rooftop array sends most of its export out before that window opens. The usage rate on the same plan decides whether the extra $337 between the the ACT median and the best rate survives: the hub page works through two plans in one zone, and the payback calculator takes your own rates. For the cost side, see solar panel costs and is solar worth it in the ACT.

Read the whole plan, not the headline rate

The feed-in figure in a retailer's advertising is usually the top of a structure, and the 546 the ACT records read 27 October 2026 show three kinds of it.

  • Caps. 68 the ACT plans pay their top rate only on the first few kWh exported each day (the CDR field up_to_kwh_per_day), then drop to a lower step. The most common cap is 8 kWh a day (47 plans), used by 1st Energy (EL Retail Energy), ActewAGL, EnergyAustralia and Origin Energy. Origin and AGL, which publish 47 of the 68 capped the ACT plans, describe the cap as a daily limit averaged across the billing period. A Canberra 6.6 kW system exporting 6,735 kWh a year averages 18.5 kWh a day, so an 8 kWh cap bites on most spring and summer days.
  • Time windows. 6 the ACT plans pay their top rate only in stated hours, most often late afternoon and evening, and a lower rate or 0c at other times. In the ACT the window column above carries hours for 1 of the 9 ranked retailers; the exports that fall outside those hours earn the other rate.
  • Negative rates. No the ACT plan in the data publishes a negative rate; in South Australia iO Energy does, which is why that state's page carries a warning.
  • Wholesale estimates. 12 plans, from Amber Electric, publish an estimated wholesale export price rather than a fixed rate; the record says the price is not fixed and the estimate assumes a stated household. They are labelled conditional.
  • Export credits booked as incentives. No the ACT plan in the data books an export credit as an incentive outside the feed-in field; GloBird Energy does this in other states.

The ACT feed-in tariff questions

What is the best solar feed-in tariff in the ACT in October 2026?

10c is the best unconditional rate, from 1st Energy (EL Retail Energy) on Home Choice, paid 16:00 to 20:59 every day. The best conditional rate in the ACT is 12c from Origin Energy (Origin Solar Partner Plus), which requires: top rate on the first 8 kWh a day.

What is the average feed-in tariff in the ACT?

5c is the median best rate across the 546 residential plans in the ACT on 27 October 2026; the median among unconditional plans is 2.7c. 17 plans pay 0c and 54 pay 10c or more.

How much is the feed-in tariff worth on a 6.6 kW system in Canberra?

$337 a year at the the ACT median of 5c, on 6,735 kWh of exports from a Canberra system that makes 10,362 kWh at 35 per cent self-consumption. Each extra 1c adds about $67 in Canberra; at 10c the income would be $674 if every exported kWh fell inside the plan's window, which it will not.

Is there a minimum feed-in tariff in the ACT?

0 regulated rate for new connections: the ACT has no minimum and no benchmark. The closed ACT government scheme is excluded from every figure here.

Which retailers pay the highest unconditional feed-in tariff in the ACT?

10c from Indigo Power is the highest unconditional rate in the ACT, then CovaU at 5.5c, ActewAGL at 4c. 6 of the 9 retailers in the ACT publish at least one unconditional plan.

Do ACT feed-in tariffs include GST?

No GST applies to a household feed-in credit in the ACT, so the rate is the rate. The usage rates and supply charges in the 546 the ACT records are published GST inclusive, as the Origin and AGL records we cross-checked against Energy Made Easy state.
